Heavy rainfall is predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in many parts of India from July 8 to July 10. The IMD has predicted rain in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh during the next two days.

According to IMD, from July 8 to July 10, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab.

“Isolated/scattered rainfall activity with isolated thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh-Delhi on 08th and increase after that becoming fairly widespread rainfall activity likely over the region during 09th-10th July 2022,” the IMD statement read.

Meanwhile, several cities like Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Ropar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and others will likely witness heavy rainfall between July 9 and July 10. Therefore, apart from this red alert has also been issued for Mumbai starting today (8 July) at 1 pm until tomorrow (9 July).

However, to avoid damage to paddy cultivation and their field, farmers are advised to undertake necessary measures to drain the excess water.
