The pink city is all ready to host the 25th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards on March 7-9, 2025. The prestigious event is returning to India after six years. The announcement, made on Sunday, comes as the 2024 edition prepares to kick off in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
Sanjay Kaushik, a tourism expert, highlighted the event’s far-reaching impact and said “When one tourist comes to a city, almost 40 people get the opportunity to work or become employed from all sectors.” he said, “The tourism sector of Rajasthan has always been ahead of its time, but this is an even greater opportunity for the capital, benefiting both the hospitality sector and local markets.”
Kaushik further emphasized the potential long-term benefits. “Another advantage of the event is that the entire media and Bollywood industry will be in the city. They will have the chance to explore new locations and destinations for their future film or series projects,” he added.
The event anticipates rapid growth across multiple sectors. Nitika Nagpal from an event management company expressed enthusiasm about potential collaborations. she stated, “It’s a great opportunity in the production, management, showrunning, and logistics sectors. Post-COVID, Rajasthan is not just about destination weddings. Event companies now have a 360-degree domain, which includes all sorts of events now, be it fashion shows or big events like the IIFA awards.”
Local businesses are also anticipating a boom. A handicraftsman from Partoka stated, “Business is always good when tourists come, especially when a movie is being shot in the city. When such a big event happens, there will be an ample amount of visitors and curious tourists, making the markets livelier. Sometimes, when movies are being shot, the crews come to our shops to buy items to showcase in their films as well.”
The 2025 ceremony will also introduce the IIFA Digital Awards, recognizing excellence in digital entertainment and OTT content. This addition reflects the evolving landscape of Indian cinema and its global reach.
