Huge Fire Occurs At Merchant Vessel Off Goa's Coast (News9)

A huge fire occurred at a Cargo Merchant vessel at 102 nautical miles off the southwest Goa coast on Friday.

The vessel was travelling to Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo from Gujarat’s Mudra port. After learning about this incident, Indian coast guard immediately changed the course of the ship to reach the concerned vessel as soon as possible.

As per the issued statement, the ship contained maritime dangerous goods (IMDG) cargo and explosions, which happened merchant’s vessel front part.

Despite the presence of rough seas and bad weather conditions, the fire operation is ongoing.

As for the crew, they have been assured of their safety by Indian coast Guard ship. Currently, the two ICG has also been sent from Goa to enhance fire fighting operation.
