Nick Jonas drops ‘This Is Heaven’, reveals his inspiration behind the song
Washington [US], March 5 (ANI): Singer-songwriter Nick Jonas recently dropped the second single ‘This Is Heaven’ from his upcoming album ‘Spaceman’ which could work as the perfect stress-buster during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
On Thursday, Nick released the ’80s-inspired pop track as the second single from his upcoming solo album ‘Spaceman’. The singer had debuted the song on Saturday Night Live on February 27, along with the album’s eponymous single.
Nick took to his Instagram account to share the romantic track and wrote, “ThisIsHeaven has landed. So happy this song is finally yours.”In the romantic number, Nick sings, “This is heaven/ And I don’t know how this could get much better (Yeah)/ Than you and me, here right now/ This is heaven/ And every time I touch you, it gets better/ I’m on my knees, I can’t stop now/ This is heaven, this is heaven, yeah, this is heaven.”
‘This Is Heaven’ follows the previously released title track ‘Spaceman,’ which he shared on February 25. The uplifting pop track marks a new phase for Nick, who has taken the opportunity to experiment with his pop sound, adding surprising elements like a sultry sax solo.
As per People magazine, the singer also opened up about his inspiration behind the heart-touching track. During a recent interview on SiriusXM Hits 1, Nick said that the song for him was influenced by his reunion with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas after the two had been living away from one another while she was shooting in Germany for ‘The Matrix 4’.
“This Is Heaven in general, basically touches on that feeling of being reunited with your personal, you know … for context Pri went to a shoot in Germany for a couple of months while I was in L.A. working on the album,” he said of his wife, who spent time last year overseas shooting ‘The Matrix 4’ with Keanu Reeves.
The singer said, “It was just meant to encapsulate kind of that euphoric feeling of being with your person. For me, it’s obviously a romantic thing, but I think for anybody that listens to this song… it’s really about that feeling of when we’re going to do that first normal thing again, or when we’re going to see that the friends and family we haven’t seen in almost a year or beyond. And, it just is supposed to give you that feeling of truly throwing your hands up in the air and saying, ‘Oh finally.'”
Nick said that he took musical influences from both the past and the present to create the sound he was looking for to express the spirit of ‘This Is Heaven’.
“A big influence for me on the sound of them was Peter Gabriel and Steve Winwood and weirdly things like Drake and The Weeknd as well. So it kind of got all these different 80s influences and inspirations, but this definitely has that Steve Winwood, Michael Bolton kind of feel with the sax solo and just, it’s a good time,” he said.
Nick also shared that any song that wasn’t about Priyanka just “wasn’t as good.”
“I think that it’s just that magical connection you’ve got with somebody when it’s right,” said Nick about his marriage with Priyanka.
He added, “And it’s been a while, you know, first couple years of a marriage, but I’m very blessed. But so far as it relates to the music and everything, you know, that this project and this whole kind of like the second chapter of this year, starting back in July, just digging into the creative, I think it was just a life source for me to just stay sane and, and kind of keep my head on straight amidst all the craziness.”
He said that he hopes listeners can relate to the feelings of joy and reunion he has experienced with his wife on his upcoming album.
“A lot of that was just trying to write songs that were true and authentic to our journey together,” said Nick.
The singer added, “And part of that being, having to be away from each other and then reuniting and just making our story and my story in particular hopefully as relatable as possible, because I think we’ve all been through similar things, you know, that feeling of distance from the people we love and care about and what it feels like when you get to, you know, be reunited with them and the hopefulness for the future.”
The upcoming album will consist of 11 new songs including ‘This Is Heaven’, ‘Sexual’, and ‘Death Do Us Part’.
‘Spaceman’ marks the first solo project from any of the Jonas Brothers since the trio got back together in 2019. Apart from Nick, the Jonas Brothers trio includes Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas.
The brothers’ most recent release as a group was last year’s holiday single ‘I Need You Christmas’. Nick’s new album will drop on March 12, this year.
Apart from the upcoming album, he also returned as a coach on NBC’s ‘The Voice’. Nick will also join Lily Collins, Rosario Dawson, Aubrey Plaza, Pedro Pascal, and more for the audio mystery thriller series ‘Calls’, which will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 19. (ANI)

John Krasinski’s ‘A Quiet Place 2’ gets new release date
Washington [US], March 5 (ANI): Good news for fans of ‘A Quiet Place’ as they will get to see the sequel in theatres earlier than expected. ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ is opening early now, on Memorial Day weekend, this year.
As per Variety, Paramount Pictures has pushed up the release date of the sequel by several months, moving the film from September 17 ahead to May 28. It took the spot previously occupied by Mark Wahlberg’s action-thriller ‘Infinite’, which was relocated to September 24.
Actor John Krasinski, who has helmed the sequel, took to his Twitter handle to confirm the news, writing, “They always say good things come to those who wait. Well… I think we’ve waited long enough. A QUIET PLACE PART II MEMORIAL DAY.”
‘A Quiet Place Part II’, starring Emily Blunt, has been moved around numerous times amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The movie was originally slated to release last March, but those plans were scrapped at the last minute as COVID-19 first started to spread in the United States.
Paramount even held a splashy red carpet premiere for ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ in New York City on March 8 last year, days before the country was forced to almost entirely shut down.
The schedule shift comes a week after Paramount announced intentions to shorten the theatrical window, with plans to put ‘A Quiet Place Part II’, ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ and other upcoming films on the nascent streaming service Paramount Plus after 45 days on in the cinema halls.
Apart from helming, Krasinski has also written ‘A Quiet Place II’. It features original cast-members including Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe. Series newcomers include Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
In ‘A Quiet Place Part II’, the surviving members of the Abbott family — Evelyn (Blunt) and her children, Regan (Millicent Simmonds), Marcus (Noah Jupe), and a newborn baby continue living in silence to hide from creatures that hunt sound, this time while facing the terrors of the outside world.
‘A Quiet Place’, which released in 2018, scored big with critics and went on to earn an Academy Award nomination for best sound editing, along with several Critics’ Choice nominations.
The movie went on to gross USD 340.9 million worldwide on a USD 21 million budget, making it one of the year’s biggest success stories for an original film. The 2018 film revolves around a family forced to survive in a world with monsters that hunt by sound. (ANI)
Fatima Sana Shaikh to star in Hindi adaptation of Tamil hit ‘Aruvi’
New Delhi [India], March 5 (ANI): Bollywood actor Fatima Sana Shaikh is set to star in the Hindi adaptation of the 2017 Tamil hit film ‘Aruvi’.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on his Instagram handle. He also revealed that the film is not titled yet and is scheduled to go on floors in mid-2021.
He wrote, “FATIMA SANA SHAIKH IN #TAMIL REMAKE… #FatimaSanaShaikh to star in #Hindi adaptation of #Tamil film #Aruvi… Directed by E Niwas… The film – not titled yet – is produced by Applause Entertainment and Faith Films [Viki Rajani]… Filming begins mid-2021.”
The film will be helmed by filmmaker E Niwas, who is a recipient of the National film award for ‘Shool’ (1999). The upcoming movie will see Fatima portraying a fiery, eponymous character made memorable by Aditi Balan in the Tamil original. The film is being produced by Applause Entertainment and Faith Films.
Speaking about the forthcoming movie, Fatima said, “I am so thrilled to do the remake of Aruvi and really looking forward to diving deep into the skin of the character. I am really glad that Applause Entertainment and Faith Films have come together with E Niwas to make this great content and I am really excited to embark on this journey.”
E Niwas also commented on the film and said, “Aruvi is not just a story of a hero. It’s a triumph over the labyrinths of life. It’s totally euphoric and a privilege to explore one of the most beautiful cinematic characters I have come across. Fatima Sana Shaikh is an absolutely befitting choice, and I am super excited to collaborate with Applause Entertainment and Faith Films.”
The upcoming remake will mark Applause Entertainment’s first collaboration with Faith Films.
Talking about the new project, Sameer Nair, CEO, Applause Entertainment, said, “Equally funny and ferocious, Aruvi is a provocative, feminist social satire that stunned us when we first saw it. We were drawn in by its unconventional narrative, deftly balancing its black comedy leanings, with the beats of a tautly executed thriller. We’re excited to collaborate with Faith Films, E Niwas, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the retelling of this audacious film for a national audience.”
In a similar vein, Viki Rajani, founder of Faith Films, said, “We are thrilled to be backing a story as strong and gritty as Aruvi. The original film was a game-changer and yes, there is a lot of pressure on us but we have an incredible team. We really look forward to our collaboration with Applause Entertainment. We are happy to have E Niwas helming the film and Fatima Sana Shaikh starring in it.”
‘Aruvi’, which released in 2017, garnered huge critical acclaim and went on to become a massive box office success. The social satire also went on to widely travel across prestigious film festivals, winning accolades and cult status along the way.
Lauded by viewers and critics alike, ‘Aruvi’ was the rare commercial entertainer that also held a mirror to society, with its sparkling commentary on consumerism and misogyny, among other prevalent issues. As a character, Aruvi was heralded as a progressive, post-modern symbol of feminism, and her radical journey through the film was a spellbinding, sucker punch to the gut.
The film followed the story of Aruvi, a middle-class girl, who was thrown out of her house after her family accused her of having brought shame on them. Later, as she tries to survive on her own, she must overcome several challenges. (ANI)
Indian Women Rising, Educate Girls USA to raise funds for education of Oscar-contending ‘Bittu’s’ cast
New Delhi [India], March 5 (ANI): Indian Women Rising, a cinema collective founded by Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga, Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, and Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh is collaborating with ‘Educate Girls USA’, an NGO founded by Safeena Husain to raise funds for the two young leads Rani and Renu Kumari from the Oscar-contending short film ‘Bittu’.
The collaboration also received the support of Global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas who gave a shout-out to the fundraiser event, standing in solidarity with the right to education for the young girls.
Priyanka said, “Bittu is moving, raw and real. It takes a devasting incident and presents it from a unique perspective. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to help give it the attention it deserves. It’s a great example of how women supporting women can make anything possible and the Indian Women Rising Collective is proof of that and I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
She added, “Cinema the world over needs more women to bring their voices, stories, and perspectives to the fore and this is one step in that direction. This fundraiser will help these 2 amazing young girls, Rani and Renu Kumari continue their education and pursue all the dreams and ambitions they have for themselves and I hope that many will come forward to help make this a reality.”
The fundraiser is scheduled for today and will be moderated by digital sensation and content creator Prajakta Koli, who was seen in the recently-released Netflix show ‘Mismatched’.
Commenting on it, Prajakta said, “It is my absolute pleasure that I get to be associated with a beautiful piece of art like Bittu at whatever capacity. I have so much love for Guneet, Tahira, and Ekta for always telling stories that touch your heart in ways unknown. Also, getting shortlisted for the academy is a tremendous feat and I am so proud of how content is evolving in our country.”
While the fundraiser will prominently emphasise the importance of girls’ education, it also aims to raise awareness about its related advantages on the overall development of the girl child, including confidence, health, and hygiene, her agency to decision making and empowerment.
Directed by Karishma Dev Dube, ‘Bittu’ is based on a true story and tells the tale of a close friendship between two girls, eclipsed by an accidental poisoning at school. From casting real children amongst the valleys of the Himalayas to shooting against the backdrop of the mountains, the film offers a visually aesthetic as well as an authentic experience to its viewers.
The film has garnered critical acclaim and recognition for its distinct cinematography and poignant storytelling. The movie’s strength also lies in its unconventional casting. The central characters of Bittu and Chand are played by first-time performers, who were cast from the local community in Uttarakhand where the film was shot.
Elaborating more on this Karishma, said, “This film exists because of the unforgettable performances of Rani Kumari and Renu Kumari. Without our two young leads, Bittu would never have the life span it currently does, representing India on global platforms such as the Academy and the Director’s Guild Of America.”
She added, “Regardless of their challenging circumstances, these little girls were consummate professionals, keeping up with the rigor of film production. When you watch this film, you will not be able to deny the fact that Rani and Renu deserve everything, or at the very least, a shot at life that provides opportunities that can help sharpen the irrefutable talent that already exists in them.”
Speaking on the fundraiser event to support the education of the lead actors of the film, Karishma said, “Today, Rani and Renu like many other children, struggle to stay in class. They are coming from a migrant laborer community who are especially hard hit during the pandemic.”
She further said, “I am so grateful for Educate Girls and Indian Women Rising, who have come together to help us change the lives of these two incredible children and their families. If we can give them the life they deserve, then it would be the best thing we have achieved with this film.”
Indian Women Rising in a joint statement shared, “Bittu is a special film and the two girls are its very soul. The performances of Rani and Renu in the film proved that each child is gifted and just needs an opportunity to flourish. We are thrilled to collaborate with Educate Girls USA and raise funds to secure the education and overall development of Rani and Renu. Education is the basic right of every child and it is our humble effort to bring a tangible change in the lives of these two talented girls.”
Safeena Husain, Founder of Educate Girls USA, said, “Children need to get equal opportunities to access quality education. With this collaboration, we are trying to bring the vital importance of investing in girls’ education to the forefront.”
Husain added, “It is the best investment the world can make as it positively impacts 9 sustainable development goals, including health, nutrition, employment, even climate change. This investment also helps break the intergenerational cycle of poverty, patriarchy, and illiteracy as an educated girl is more than twice as likely to educate her children.”
The 93rd Academy Awards announced the shortlists in nine categories nearly a month back and ‘Bittu’ made it to the Live Action Short Film shortlist.
Competing amongst 174 films from across the globe, ‘Bittu’ qualified for the top 10 after the first round of voting and will now be subjected to the votes of members of the short films and animation branch to determine the nominees. (ANI)
