In the Himalayan state of Himachal Pradesh, a relationship manager with a private bank has been detained for embezzling 3.8 crore from 68 accounts to feed his online gaming addiction in Shimla.

The culprit Arvind Kumar was detained late on Thursday after police found out that the funds meant for mutual fund investments were diverted to online gaming app.

Furthermore, kumar also persuaded customers to invest money, whose amount ranged from ₹1 lakh to 40 lakh. With the help of fake bonds, he promised returns triple their investment.

But instead of giving returns, he utilized those funds to support his online gaming activities.

How This Modus Operandi Was Exposed?

Later this scam got exposed, when customers did not their required returns and complained to senior bank officials.

Even though this incident happened in 2022, but this extensive operation was exposed after a detailed probe.

After former bank manager Sumit Dogra lodged FIR at Chhota Shimla police station, it quickly led to Arvind Kumar’s arrest.

Currently, the police have recorded the statements of 70 accounts holders, who were the victims of this scam.
