Angad Bedi will be seen in ‘MumBhai’. as Bhaskar Shetty, a cop who has taken the charge of cleansing the streets of Mumbai. The series is produced by Apoorva Lakhia and features Angad, Sikander Kher and Sandeepa Dhar in pivotal roles. It will be releasing on 6 November on Alt Balaji and Zee5. Angad spoke exclusively with The Daily Guardian and shared the experience of playing an encounter specialist Bhaskar Shetty.

How was the experience of playing the role of an encounter specialist for the first time?

It was tough. I tried to understand the mind of an encounter specialist firstly, how they talk, walk and comprehend their mannerisms. I also learnt how to hold a gun, Bhaskar Shetty has a unique way to hold a gun. As I am a Punjabi in real life and Bhaskar Shetty is a Konkani/ Marathi due to which I had to think in that way. Initially, I was apprehensive but later on I enjoyed playing this character.

Other actors have played encounter specialists and cops in movies and web series in the past, who was your inspiration for this role?

My Inspiration has always been Amitabh Bachchan. I believe in creating something different with my work. I do not like to take a reference point. Nobody is good or bad, everyone is flawed and respond to the situation based on when and how they are kept in it.

How was the experience of working with Sandeepa and Sikander?

Sikander is a spontaneous actor. Sandeepa is hardworking. She has an interesting face and is a natural actor. We worked as a team and the atmosphere on the set was light and friendly. What made you say yes to ‘MumBhai’? The script, producer Ekta Kapoor and Apoorva Lakhia were a big draw. Ekta knows the genre really well and ‘MumBhai’ has an interesting cast. When the role was offered to me I gave a nod as I always wanted to play an underdog and grabbed the opportunity.

What is it about Mumbai that you adore?

Mumbai is a city of dreams. I love South Mumbai and being from a cricketer’s family and a fan of cricket, I love sports grounds and the architecture. The city provides people with various opportunities. It deals with troubles but gives a ray of hope to many individuals. It is a competitive city, if you work hard you will get the perks of getting a shelter under the sun. There is no disparity between people
