The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry, a Covid-19 designated hospital, is facing a huge crisis due to increasing numbers of corona cases. The viral infection has burdened the centre as more than 300 patients are admitted in the JIPMER Covid Block and the ICUs are almost full. The Medical Superintendent of JIPMER has issued a circular on OPD services being shut down due to rising cases and a shortage of medical staff. This will be implemented from 24 August.
