The Election Commission is trying to promote voting at the state and district level in the assembly elections. In elections, votes are collected from the elderly and disabled people from home through home voting. To vote, senior voters above 80 years of age and voters with more than 40 per cent disability are casting their vote through home vote. According to the data released on Thursday, 43,411 voters have voted from home in three days.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that in the Rajasthan Assembly elections, senior voters above 80 years of age and disabled voters of the state have been given the option of voting from home. He said, “20,479 elderly and 5501 disabled people in the first two days of home voting in the state on Tuesday. Also on Thursday, 14,311 elderly and 3123 disabled voters availed the facility of voting from home.”
The Chief Electoral Officer said, “62927 eligible voters have applied for a home voting facility as an option. Special polling teams are going to the homes of such voters and getting them to vote through postal ballot with complete secrecy. Voting will be conducted at home through postal ballot till November 19. For those voters who were absent at home during the first phase of home voting, special polling teams will visit them for the second time on the 20th and 21st of November. Also, the voting dates for voters associated with essential services have been fixed from November 19 to November 21.”
