Tom Cruise began his note by acknowledging how well Mission Impossible 8 performed during the weekend and thanked everyone involved, writing, “This weekend was one for the history books! To every theatre and every employee who helps bring these stories to the audiences, thank you. He also thanked fans for all the love, writing, “And most of all, THANK YOU to the audiences everywhere for whom we all serve and for whom we all LOVE to entertain. Sincerely, TomCruise.” Fans were moved by his note, leaving comments about how they would miss Ethan Hunt. Box Office Clash: Tom Cruise Starrer MI8 vs. Disney’s Lilo & Stitch

The US Memorial Day long weekend brought Mission Impossible 8 up against Disney’s Lilo & Stitch. Although the films were well-received at the box office, it was Lilo & Stitch that edged out MI8. The Tom Cruise starrer’s opening box office sales broke the franchise record, which has taken over $4 billion at the box office globally. Box Office Mojo put out that the movie had taken in $77 million domestically during its four-day opening weekend, and $204 million globally. Lilo & Stitch took in a whopping $341 million.
