Selena Gomez recently opened up about her romantic journey before getting engaged to music producer Benny Blanco. During a podcast interview, the singer and actress shared that she went through several disappointing dates before finding someone she truly connected with, according to E! News.
The 32-year-old said she had spent nearly five years single and hadn’t been interested in anyone for a long time. While she did go on a few dates during that time, Gomez admitted they didn’t go well. She described them as “s–tty dates” that left her feeling unfulfilled.
That all changed when she met Benny Blanco. Unlike her previous experiences, this time, she felt a genuine connection. Both Gomez and Blanco have spoken about their first date and how their relationship slowly developed. At first, they didn’t think they would fall for each other, but spending time together made them realize there was something special between them.
Blanco, who is 37, said he felt a sense of excitement and comfort whenever he was with Gomez. As they got closer, he became certain that she was the right one for him. Reflecting on his time with her, he said, “Every day I was with her I was so excited for what was going to happen, yet so at ease with everything… I was like, ‘Wow, I really truly met my soulmate,’” as quoted by E! After dating casually for a few months, the couple decided to make their relationship public. They got engaged in December 2024, marking a new chapter in both their lives.
