Pfeiffer Reflects on Hollywood’s Changing Landscape While Filming New Series

Currently, Michelle Pfeiffer is working on Margo’s Got Money Problems in Los Angeles. The series, a streaming adaptation of a bestselling novel, also stars Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning. Interestingly, in the past 20 years, Pfeiffer has worked on 23 projects, but only three of them were filmed in Los Angeles. She remarked, “That’s crazy,” during her hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Concerns About LA’s Future in the Industry

Moreover, Pfeiffer expressed concern that Los Angeles might no longer be at the center of the entertainment industry. She believes that bringing back tax incentives could help revitalize the city’s status as the industry’s heart. “You need to bring back tax incentives,” she said. Pfeiffer pointed out that productions are increasingly opting for cheaper locations. “If you’re saving $4 million by going somewhere else, or even a million, that’s huge,” she noted. As a result, the city risks losing more productions.

Reflection on Her Early Career

Looking back, Pfeiffer recalled her first acting job, a Ford truck commercial, when she was a cashier at Von’s in Orange County. Her boss gave her the day off to shoot the spot in Malibu. Reflecting on those early days, she shared, “Can I make a living? If I could make a living doing this, that would be fantastic.” At that time, she was simply hoping to make a career in acting.

Still Nervous About Public Speaking

Despite her long career, Pfeiffer admitted that she still gets nervous before public speaking. “I was just so nervous,” she confessed. Even after all these years, speaking in front of an audience makes her uneasy.

Falling in Love with Acting

In her speech, Pfeiffer also reflected on how she fell in love with acting. She explained that she caught the acting bug during a theater class in high school. “I caught the bug,” she said, recalling the moment she realized acting was her true passion.

Finally, Pfeiffer is set to star in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming series Madison, marking another exciting chapter in her career.
