Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible 8 has already made $12 million at the international box office—days ahead of its US opening. The film, called Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning, released early in five markets on May 17. It shattered box office records in at least two markets.

The film opens officially in the US and other key global markets on May 23, with China opening on May 30. With this powerful head-start, chances of a billion-dollar global run now seem even brighter.

Five Strong Opening Countries

Paramount Pictures launched the action movie in advance in India, Japan, South Korea, and Australia-New Zealand. The movie was released on May 17, six days prior to the US premiere. Mission Impossible 8 earned $12 million from these five nations within a period of two days.

The movie had a record-breaking weekend in South Korea. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, it received more than 750,000 viewers during the weekend. That is the most-viewed movie of the year in South Korea. The movie generated $5 million there within two days.

Solid Numbers from India and Japan

India also led the way in the early revenuesThe movie earned ₹33 crore, approximately $4 million, over two days, as per Sacnilk. Japan chipped in another $2 million in the same timeframeadding to the momentum of the movie. In Australia and New Zealand together, Mission Impossible 8 collected barely under $1 million, completing solid opening for the franchise closer.

Trade experts now project the film to reach $20 million worldwide even prior to its US debut. North America may debut at $100 million or higher. Foreign markets should also contribute big numbers, particularly after the film locked in a coveted China release on May 30.

Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt, with Christopher McQuarrie once again directing. The A-list cast includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, and so many more.

Paramount Pictures and Skydance bring the film, which opened in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Mission Impossible 8, with record-breaking openings and world chatter, is poised to reinvigorate the franchise and kick off Hollywood’s blockbuster summer.
