Hollywood actress Mindy Kaling was honored with a Star for her contribution to the cinema during the ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame,’ a historically momentous event. She has become the first South Asian woman to receive such an award.
In a ceremony held in Los Angeles, Kaling presented this event by standing at the forefront, surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues, among whom was B.J. Novak, her close friend, and former boyfriend.

In the emotional moment, Novak praised Kaling as a talented artist in the entertainment world, stating that she brought a new perspective toward it. Kaling later posted her uncontainable joy on Instagram, calling the instance “awesome” and expressing her gratitude. Kaling, 45 years of age, is known for her roles in The Office, The Mindy Project, and Never Have I Ever.

I was surrounded by my dearest friends and family for the surreal and humbling experience of receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. @bjnovak gave such a beautiful speech. Kaling also acknowledged the growing prominence of South Asian actors in Hollywood and her wish to be a support for new generations.
Tribute to Evergreen Friendship
The moving conversation gave way to B.J. Novak, a close friend and a godparent to her three children. Kaling delved into the long years they spent back at work on The Office and the bond they still share, depicting Novak as someone who “sure is an integral part of my family.”
While her children Swati, 7; Spencer Avu, 4; and Anne, one, haven’t made appearances in this ceremony, Novak’s presence in the life of these children have gotten much admiration from fans.
