Miley Cyrus recently premiered her 55-minute visual film Something Beautiful at the Tribeca Festival in New York on June 6. The film is tied to her latest album of the same name and features music videos and artistic visuals for 13 tracks. The screening took place at the iconic Beacon Theatre, where Miley appeared for a Q&A session with the producers and directors behind the project.

Interruptions In Miley’s Show

However, the atmosphere quickly took a turn when some frustrated fans in the audience began yelling at Miley mid-conversation. One fan loudly demanded, “We paid $800. Sing!” Another shouted, “We thought this was a concert.” The interruptions created an awkward situation, especially since the event was advertised as a film screening, not a live performance.
Despite the disruption, Miley remained calm and gracious. To appease the crowd, she sang an a cappella version of her 2009 hit song “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The Movie. Many praised her for the spontaneous gesture and the way she handled the chaos. In fact, fans online were quick to defend her, calling the disruptive crowd “rude,” “entitled,” and “shameless.” One commenter wrote, “Maybe check what kind of event you’re at before shouting demands at an artist.”

What Caused The Confusion?

The confusion seems to have been sparked by misleading third-party ticket listings. According to reports, several attendees had purchased tickets from resale sites like StubHub and VividSeats, where the event was falsely advertised as a concert. One woman, Kate Fiore, said she and her sister spent $1,700 on tickets that “made no mention of the Tribeca Film Festival.” Another fan named Tim paid $1,200, thinking it was part of a Miley Cyrus concert tour. “There was a clear misalignment in expectations,” he said. “It was very awkward.”

Miley stunned on the red carpet in a sheer beaded dress and posed with her team. She later yelled, “Everybody say, ‘Dysfunctional!’” for the cameras. Her ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, dropped May 30 and features collaborations with Brittany Howard and Naomi Campbell, with production help from her boyfriend Maxx Morand.
