Met Gala 2025 on May 5 has attracted attention for its over-the-top fashion as well as for the VIP dishes that were served at the gala. The evening’s menu was designed by celebrity chef Kwame Onwuachi and featured a few of the dishes before the gala. But thanks to a viral video posted by Megan Thee Stallion, followers got a better insider’s peek at the menu.
Megan Thee Stallion Pops a Sneak Peek at the Gala’s Menu
Despite the Met Gala having a no-phone policy, Megan Thee Stallion gambled and took pictures of the frenzy over the food at the event. In one of her social media videos, the rapper can be seen at a table seated alongside other celebrities Angel Reese and Doechii, where they sample some of the hors d’oeuvres.
The group starts with a bite of the much-anticipated Cornbread and Caviar, which everyone enjoyed. Next, they sample dishes such as White Truffle Lobster Rolls and Vegan Lox served on a Mini Bagel. People had varied reactions, with some enjoying the flavors and others not being quite as keen.

They followed that up with sampling dishes such as Chicken and Plantain, Truffle Chopped Cheese, Curry Chicken Patties, and a Hamachi Appetizer. The video soon went viral, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at the gala’s food offerings.
Chef Kwame Onwuachi’s Curated Menu: A Cultural Feast
As reported by Vogue, the Met Gala dinner menu included a mix of flavors such as Papaya Piri Piri Salad, Cucumbers with Caribbean Green Seasoning, Creole Roasted Chicken with Lemon Emulsion, BBQ Collard Greens with Bacon, and Cornbread with Honey Curry Butter. Dessert was a thrilling tribute to New York culture with the Bodega Special Cosmic Brownie.
Kwame Onwuachi stated that his food dishes were inspired by “Black dandyism and the Black experience in fashion” and drew from his Bronx childhood and his parents’ Nigerian and Jamaican heritage. He said, “As a chef who has grown up in the Bronx, being part of such an iconic New York institution for the most celebrated, star-studded night of the year is like a professional dream come true.”
Vogue’s Ban on Certain Foods at the Met Gala
Met Gala and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who hosts and co-chairs the event, famously forbade several foods from attending the event.
