Kanye West, now known as Ye, is no stranger to controversies. And he has once again made headlines with a deeply personal revelation. In a recent social media post, he disclosed that during his childhood, he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with his male cousin. The rapper made the revelation along with the release of a new song titled ‘Cousins’.

“This song is called COUSINS about my cousin that’s locked in jail for life for killing a pregnant lady a few years after I told him we wouldn’t ‘look at dirty magazines together’ anymore,” West said.
Ye attributed this experience to their early exposure to explicit magazines, which they discovered in his mother’s closet. This candid confession has sparked widespread conversation about childhood experiences and their lasting impacts.
The revelation coincided with the release of Ye’s new track titled “Cousins,” which delves into the complexities of his relationship with his cousin, who is currently serving a life sentence for a serious crime. The song’s lyrics, combined with Ye’s confession, have elicited a mix of reactions from the public, ranging from concern to calls for deeper discussions on sensitive topics.
This wasn’t the first time that Ye opened up about a deeply personal experience.
When Ye talked about being exposed to pornography at age 5
Over the years, he has often talked about various experiences that have shaped his life and career. For instance, he had previously spoken about being exposed to pornography at the age of five, after finding a Playboy magazine belonging to his father.
“Playboy was my gateway into full blown pornography addiction. My dad had a Playboy left out at age 5, and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life,” he had said while speaking to Zane Lowe for his Apple Music Beats 1 show.
This early exposure, he had added, led to a prolonged struggle with sex addiction, which intensified following the death of his mother, Donda West, in 2007. In the same interview, he credited his faith and religious beliefs with helping him overcome these challenges.
“With God, I’ve been able to beat things that had a full control of me. That Playboy that I found when I was 5 years old was written all over the moment that I was at the MTV Awards with the Timberlands, the Balmain jeans – before people were rocking Balmain jeans – and the Hennessy bottle,” he said.
While some view his openness as a step toward healing and raising awareness, others express concern about the potential implications of sharing such sensitive information publicly.
