The latest horror film in the Final Destination series, Bloodlines, is enjoying huge success in India. According to Pinkvilla, the film earned over ₹6.5 crore (around USD 750,000) over the weekend. This brought its total earnings in India to more than ₹65 crore (approximately USD 7.6 million).
Storyline and Direction
Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Bloodlines follows a college student, played by Kaitlyn Santa Juana. She inherits the power to see future disasters from her grandmother—specifically, a vision of a deadly building collapse. Soon, she receives a warning that Death is coming for her family. Released 14 years after the last installment, the film is being called a “re-imagining” of the Final Destination series.
Box Office Surprise
The film not only met expectations but surpassed them. Bloodlines has become the second-highest grossing Hollywood horror film in India, trailing only behind The Conjuring 2, which earned ₹83.25 crore in 2016. What makes this more impressive is that Bloodlines faced tough competition from Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, which released in the same weekend.
Global and Domestic Success
Despite the competition, Bloodlines stayed strong at the box office. The film’s global earnings have crossed USD 232 million, making it the most successful movie in the Final Destination franchise. It also ranks as the ninth highest-grossing film worldwide in 2025.
Rising Popularity of Horror in India
The franchise always had a loyal fanbase in India. However, in the past, limited screen availability and lower demand for Hollywood horror held it back. This time, things have changed. With more theaters showing international films and a growing love for horror among Indian viewers, Bloodlines has finally made its mark.
Beating Big Hollywood Franchises
By its second week, Final Destination: Bloodlines outshone several major Hollywood releases in India. It outperformed titles like Thor: Love and Thunder, Jurassic World: Dominion, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
India Among Top Global Markets
India has emerged as one of the top-performing markets for Bloodlines, just after the UK and Mexico. When it comes to ticket sales, India is in a close race with Mexico and is likely to end up as the second-largest market for the film globally.
