Pop icon and business mogul Rihanna surprised fans once again as she confirmed her third pregnancy at the 2025 Met Gala, held on May 5 in New York City. Her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, revealed the news ahead of her much-anticipated appearance at the star-studded event.
“Rihanna’s outfit tonight is… I don’t know, whatever, just don’t cover her baby hump, you dig?” A$AP Rocky said in a red carpet interview, teasing the big reveal. But contrary to his playful wish, Rihanna arrived wearing a chic cropped jacket with a crossover necktie, a gray corseted top, and a dramatic floor-length skirt designed to resemble a tailored suit jacket. She completed the look with a wide-brimmed black hat.
Before she stepped onto the carpet for interviews, a fan cheekily called out, “Did you bring your umbrella-ella-ella, eh?” referencing her 2007 hit single “Umbrella.” Rihanna playfully responded, “I brought the kid!”
Celebrity photographer Miles Diggs, who had previously captured Rihanna’s first pregnancy reveal, shared a pre-event photo on Instagram of the singer in a gray ensemble, baring her baby bump. Moments later, the singer appeared on the Met Gala’s navy carpet adorned with daffodils, smiling and cradling her bump in front of flashing cameras.
A$AP Rocky, also known as Rakim Mayers and one of the co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, expressed gratitude as the couple received congratulations. “It is time to just show the people what we were cooking up,” he said. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’m glad everybody’s happy for us because we’re definitely happy.”
Rihanna, 37, and A$AP Rocky are already parents to two sons, RZA, born in May 2022, and Riot, born in August 2023. The couple has made a tradition of announcing their pregnancies in grand style. Rihanna debuted her first pregnancy with a Harlem photoshoot in 2022, and famously revealed her second during her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show.
The Met Gala, held annually to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, was themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” this year, the first edition since 2003 to focus entirely on menswear.
Rihanna joins the likes of Serena Williams and Karlie Kloss, who have also revealed their pregnancies on the Met Gala red carpet, continuing the tradition of show-stopping, joyful announcements on fashion’s biggest night.
