The news of President Joe Biden stepping down from the 2024 presidential race has elicited diverse reactions from Hollywood figures. Barbra Streisand took to X to commend Biden, highlighting his “significant achievements” and his defense of democracy.

On Sunday, Biden announced his departure, citing it was in the “best interest” of the Democratic Party and the nation. He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s nominee and called for Democratic unity against Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Ellen DeGeneres expressed her gratitude on Instagram, stating, “I’m grateful to President Biden for everything he’s done.”

Finneas, Oscar-winner and Billie Eilish’s brother, shared a family photo with Biden and wrote, “I see a person putting the people before themselves and their pride today, and for that, I have an enormous amount of respect.”

Lizzo reacted with a screenshot of the news and remarked, “We are truly living in unprecedented times.”

Jimmy Kimmel praised Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on social media, saying, “Thank you President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden for your leadership, integrity, empathy and service to our country.”

Ariana Grande re-shared Biden’s endorsement of Harris on Instagram, while Cardi B voiced her support on X, “AHAHAHAHA LETS GOOOOO I TOLD YALLL KAMALA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE 2024 candidate.”

Jamie Lee Curtis lauded Harris as “trusted and tested,” and Mark Ruffalo called for resistance against right-wing policies, advocating for religious freedom. Julia Louis-Dreyfus thanked Biden for his service.

Biden, who is isolating in Delaware after a recent COVID-19 diagnosis, made the announcement following criticism from Democrats about his debate performance against Trump on June 27.
