In All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bilaspur, patients would benefit from not only the Ayushman card, but also the Himcare card. Himcare card is a state sponsored scheme that helps poor patients’ to have free of cost access to the available treatment like Ayushman Card. The central government has approved free
treatment from both the schemes here.

More than 25 lakh population of the state is registered under the Himcare card scheme. All of them will get a free treatment facility up to Rs 5 lakh annually in AIIMS. The newly built AIIMS bilaspur would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 5 October.

It is pertinent to mention here that initially Ayushman card holders could get free treatment in all central health institutions in the country, but after PGI Chandigarh, now with the efforts of the state government, AIIMS Bilaspur will also provide treatment under Himcare card scheme. About 22 lakh population in the state has been covered under Ayushman Yojana.

Whenever a patient is admitted in an institute like AIIMS and PGI, then the bill has to be paid for everything like medicine, food and drink, bed and tests. If the patient is admitted to the hospital, then the MRI is done in 2000 to 3000 rupees at the government rates. CT scan also ranges from 1000 to 3000 rupees in government rates.

AIIMS Bilaspur has got approval to provide free treatment to both Ayushman and Himcare card holders. Training is being given to the staff related to this. – Dr. Dinesh Verma, MS, AIIMS
