A Special Assembly session will take place on 17 September on the occasion of “Golden Jubilee Celebrations” of Himachal Pradesh, President Ram Nath Kovind will be the Chief Guest. The President is coming to Himachal on 16 September while he is scheduled to return on 20 September.

Himachal Pradesh has completed 50 years of its statehood. The state is celebrating 2021 as “Golden Jubilee Celebrations” on the completion of 50 years. The state government had decided to organise various programs. Pandemic delayed the event and due to Covid-19, all the events were stalled. A one-day special session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is being called on 17 September.

Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Parmar said that the President will address the Himachal Vidhan Sabha special session for one hour.

Parmar stated that for this special occasion Himachal Vidhan Sabha Secretariat has started preparations. However, President Kovind has already scheduled to visit Shimla, amid a program of five days stay in Himachal. During this visit, he would be staying with his family at Retreat the President House in the outskirts of Shimla, Charabda.

To commemorate this event, Parmar said, “we have invited all former MLAs including present members of this assembly. However, we were planning to make the event a grand show and the government was preparing to showcases this journey of making this hill state a model state in various fields to our young generation, keeping in view of the pandemic we have cut short all.”
