Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu expressed concern that the Agnipath scheme has hindered the dreams of young people to serve the country by recruiting them into the army. He made these remarks during his address in Bhanjal. He stated that previously, the youth of Himachal used to join the army, serve the country, and then return to become teachers or join other services. However, the central government’s Agnipath scheme has limited the army recruitment to only four years.
Sukhu emphasized that the Congress government has come into power not for personal enjoyment but for serving the common people. He criticized the BJP for attempting to sway people during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and challenged them to answer questions from the public. He questioned the BJP leaders on their whereabouts during the floods in Himachal and criticized them for not demanding relief packages for the state.
The Chief Minister highlighted the efforts of the Congress government in changing laws and rules that were hindering progress in various departments. He mentioned the relief packages announced by the state government during times of crisis and compared them to the BJP’s political approach. Sukhu emphasized the Congress government’s commitment to making Himachal economically self-reliant and stated that they would continue to be successful in this endeavor.
