Rescue and restoration efforts are in full swing following a cloudburst that hit Rampur’s Samej on Thursday. The Indian Army is actively involved in the operation, establishing temporary bridges to reconnect isolated areas and facilitate rescue missions.

Teams from NDRF, SDRF, Home Guard, and CISF are working together on the ground. Home Guard Commandant RP Nepta updated ANI that rescue operations resumed at 7 am today, with five JCBs deployed to aid in the search and recovery efforts. Various teams are tasked with locating and recovering bodies, with local input guiding some of the search areas.

“It’s the fourth day of operations. After a review meeting yesterday, we are proceeding with increased urgency. The deployment of five JCBs and various task forces will aid our efforts,” Nepta said. “We hope to recover more bodies today. The three bodies found so far remain unidentified, and we are showing them to local residents for identification. We are also providing relief to affected individuals.”

Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh reported that around 50 people are feared dead, though the official death toll will be confirmed once rescue operations conclude. The state government’s top priority is to recover the bodies and restore connectivity to the affected regions as quickly as possible.
