Most-awaited Adampur bypolls is set to witness a multi-cornered political battle scheduled for 3 November and fates of the contenders will be sealed on Thursday. The prestige of the several political bigwigs of all parties is at stake as it is likely to pave new political paths for them. Adampur has witnessed a build up of stalwarts of all parties so far in the bypolls in a bid to win the battle.
As many as 22 candidates are in the fray in the by-election. The polling time has been fixed from 7 am to 6 pm. According to the instructions issued by the Election Commission, the Voter’s Photo Identity Card (EPAC) has been considered as the main document for the identification of the voter. Apart from this, voter can vote after showing any of the documents declared necessary by the authority and the list includes Aadhar Card, MGNREGA Job Card, Bank/Post Office Passbook, Health Insurance Smart Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI, Indian Passport, Pension Document, Service Identity Card and Unique Disability ID. For the by-election, 180 booths have been set up in 57 villages and institutions, including 36 sensitive and 39 very sensitive polling stations. There are about 1 lakh 72 thousand voters in the assembly constituency, out of which about 92 thousand are male voters and 80 thousand are female.
Officials informed that if any person gets information related to inducement during the election, he can give information on the telephone number 01662-283178 of the control room set up. Various teams including Flying Squad , Static Surveillance and Video Surveillance have been constituted to conduct the Adampur by-election in a free, fair and peaceful manner. The instructions have been given to regularly inspect the vehicles at all the Nakas and keep a vigil on all the vehicles plying through the Nakas. The security forces will keep a close watch on all the Nakas put up at Bhadra Road-Balsamand, Dabri Road-Budak, Bhadra Road-Moda Kheda, Mandi Adampur Bypass and Agroha Chowk Adampur. Besides, a total of 30 micro observers have also been installed for the area of Adampur assembly.
CEO Preetpal Singh also gave detailed information about tender vote, challenge vote and filling of various forms. Contesting candidates, election agents, polling agents and media personnel having permission certificates issued by the Election Commission will be able to enter inside the polling station and no person other than the voter will be allowed inside the voting compartment. At the time of mock poll, at least 50 votes and 3 votes in favor of each candidate should be cast.
