In an exemplary display of bravery and dedication to duty, a courageous police officer from Jammu and Kashmir, Mohan Lal, has been honoured with the prestigious Shaurya Chakra and Gallantry Award for his consecutive anti-terrorism operations this year. Mohan Lal stands among the select few officers bestowed with the Shaurya Chakra, the third-highest military decoration for gallantry.

The decorated officer recently shared critical intelligence revealing terrorist plans to carry out a fidayeen attack on the National Highway (NHW) from the Pantha Chowk to Parimpora axis, specifically targeting security forces deployed in preparation for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2022. Responding promptly to the tip-off, police teams from District Srinagar and Police Component Srinagar were mobilized to the identified area.

Taking charge of the situation, Dy SP Mohan Lal, leading a small team, established a special checkpoint at JVC Bernina Bypass, Srinagar. In the face of impending danger, terrorists opened fire and lobbed grenades towards the officers. Undeterred and displaying indomitable courage, Mohan Lal advanced towards the terrorists, neutralizing one and inflicting injuries on another during a close-range gunfight.

The eliminated terrorist was identified as the notorious terrorist commander “Rahi Bhai @ Abdullah Gojri,” an “A+” category operative of the LeT outfit from Pakistan. Recovered from his possession were arms and ammunition. Mohan Lal, exhibiting uncommon courage, then moved towards the injured terrorist who had taken refuge behind a cemented structure. Despite indiscriminate firing and grenade attacks, he fearlessly neutralized the second terrorist, identified as “Adil Hussain Mir @ Musaib,” a Pakistan-trained “B” category terrorist of the LeT outfit, hailing from Liver Srigufwara, Anantnag.

The operation, characterized by Mohan Lal’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and eliminating the terrorist threat, concluded without collateral damage. These successful actions dealt a significant blow to the LeT terrorist network in the South and Central Kashmir Range.
Mohan Lal’s exceptional bravery and dedicated service to the country serve as an inspiration for the youth of the nation.

His selfless actions have not only safeguarded innocent lives but have also reinforced the indomitable spirit of the security forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the region.
