With less than two weeks remaining until the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, the Ambani family organized a mass wedding ceremony for underprivileged couples. The event took place at the Reliance Corporate Park (RCP) in Navi Mumbai, where 50 couples from the Palghar area were wed. The ceremony was attended by the entire Ambani family, including Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani, Shloka Ambani, Isha Ambani, and Anand Piramal.
In a generous gesture, the Ambani family gifted each couple gold ornaments such as mangalsutra, wedding rings, and nose rings, along with silver ornaments including toe rings and anklets.
Additionally, each couple received groceries and household items sufficient for one year. These gifts included 36 essential items, utensils, appliances like a gas stove, mixer, and fan, as well as a mattress and pillows.
Furthermore, each bride was given a cheque of ₹1.01 lakh as her ‘streedhan’.
The mass wedding was attended by over 800 people, including the brides’ and grooms’ family members, local social workers, and community members. After the ceremony, a grand dinner was hosted for the guests.
Guests were also invited to witness the traditional Tarpa Dance performed by the indigenous Warli Tribe.
This mass wedding for the underprivileged was part of the pre-wedding celebrations for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
“Nita and Mukesh Ambani are contributing towards this noble cause and will also grace the occasion along with family. We would be delighted if you could join us in witnessing this celebration of love,” read the invite shared by the news agency ANI on June 29.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, who have been friends since childhood, will marry on July 12 in Mumbai. This will be followed by a day for Shubh Aashirwad, or divine blessings, on July 13. A grand wedding reception will take place on July 14.
