Henriette Ishimwe of Rwanda competed fiercely for the title of ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March 2023.

Ishimwe, who is only 19 years old but has already played in nearly 50 T20 Internationals for Rwanda, once again displayed her all-around talent in March. Ishimwe had an outstanding performance with bat and ball against Ghana to get the Nigeria Cricket Federation Women’s International T20 Tournament off to a terrific start. She scored 32 runs in 22 balls in an instant with the bat, and then produced amazing figures of 4/4 to hold Ghana to just 41.

The teenager managed to better her performance against Cameroon with a 33-ball 43 and followed it up with her maiden T20I five-wicket haul and her best bowling figures (5/6) in the shortest format.
She said it was a great thrill to win the coveted award, and paid special tribute to all the coaches she has had throughout her career.
Ishimwe mentioned that, “I am humbled and honoured to win this award for my performances in the last month,”

“I owe this honour to all the people who have helped me along the way in cricket. To my trainers who have devoted many hours to my training and development, to my teammates who have served as my role models and motivators, to my family and friends who have always supported me, and most importantly to the omnipotent God who has enabled all of this.

“I look forward to continuing to contribute to the world of cricket and win more matches for my country,” Ishimwe added.
