Kalina Marie told TikTok how she felt a little heartbreak on her wedding day when she walked into the reception venue and nearly all of her guests had fled. She said she had sent digital invitations to 75 guests for a masquerade-themed wedding. Only five people attended the occasion, which left her and the groom to enter their reception in silence with their son.

Kalina and her husband, together for nine years, had been engaged for four years. They postponed their wedding because of the pandemic, so she was robbed of guests cheering her on. “POV: You planned the most beautiful entrance, just to open the doors to an empty venue,” she wrote in the video, showing the quiet scene, with only a few attendees and rows of unfilled chairs.

She once narrated a story about how sad she felt that day when she had eagerly waited for the event to happen for months. “This is our entrance to our masquerade ball. I not only digitally invited over 75 people but also spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations. FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!! ” Kalina said that she left the door open, expecting that guests were simply late. Even though invitations for a 1 p.m. starts, at 1:15 her mother texted her no one arrived.

At 2 p.m., the couple entered, to an almost empty hall prepared for 40 people. Kalina said she really wanted this big grand entrance full of cheers, but instead, she experienced the weight of unanticipated emptiness. However, she chose to enjoy the day with her small group and make the most of it, having said, “Did we still make the most of it??” You bet your SWEET a** we did. Although she left wondering whether she had done something wrong, Kalina went on to share how thankful she was for people who came, realizing that she had her husband, her child, and support from family. It had caught sympathy from followers, suggesting she “redo” the event. A week later, she confirmed that she hadn’t received many explanations for the absence of her guests.
