A double-decker bus accident has claimed two lives and left 16 injured after the vehicle collided with a parked truck in Toli village under Sikandara Rao police station limits. District Magistrate Ashish Kumar confirmed the incident, stating that negligence on the part of the bus driver led to the fatal crash.

Upon receiving the report, Superintendent of Police Nipun Aggarwal and local authorities swiftly responded, initiating rescue operations and ensuring the injured were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and directed officials to expedite medical care for the injured, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

This incident follows another fatal bus accident in Unnao district, where a double-decker sleeper bus rear-ended a milk tanker on the Agra-Lucknow expressway near Gadha village. Eighteen people lost their lives, with 19 others sustaining injuries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

The back-to-back accidents have sparked condolences from leaders across political parties, emphasizing the need for stringent road safety measures to prevent further tragedies on Uttar Pradesh’s roads.
