Lawrence Bishnoi had given the contract killing order of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala to Delhi’s top gangster Hashim Baba, who is lodged in Tihar Jail. Gangster Shahrukh, who came to kill Moosewala in January this year, was his henchman. Shahrukh came to kill Moosewala but went back after seeing his security guards. After which, Lawrence gave the responsibility to the Canada-based gangster Goldie Brar. Goldie gathered a team of shooters and got Moosewala killed on 29 May.
As per police officials, Hashim Baba, along with gangster Shahrukh, sent a team of sharpshooters to Moosa village in January, where he did the recce of Moosewala. At that time, Moosewala had the security of 10 commandos. Seeing this, Shahrukh went back and said that Moosewala has high security and modern weapons would be required to kill Moosewala. Before Lawrence and Goldie Brar could send the weapons, Shahrukh was caught by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
Hashim Baba’s real name is Asim. He was involved in the gambling business in Delhi and used to keep his hair long like Sanjay Dutt. He aspired to become a big don like Abu Salem and Dawood Ibrahim. After he joined the Nasir gang of Delhi, he started threatening the traders and collecting extortion. He would shoot those who did not pay the ransom. Meanwhile, when the gang leader Nasir went to jail, Hashim Baba took over the command of the gang. Gradually, he captured this entire gang.
The forensic investigation into the murder of Moosewala has revealed that bullets were fired from AK47. 30 bore and 9MM pistol was also used. However, these weapons have not been recovered yet.
The Punjab Police is now interrogating Lawrence and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria face to face. Both have been brought to the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) office in Kharar.
