The Haryana government is mulling over a strategy to provide better transport facilities to the passengers in the state and the State transport department continues to come up with new practices and measures from time to time. To strengthen transport facilities for the passengers in Haryana the transport department has decided to purchase around 1000 buses. The State transport minister has issued a set of directions for the Principal Secretary to take the required steps to complete the process for the same. Induction of new buses in the fleet is more likely to provide better transport facilities to the passengers

Before this, the transport department used to purchase the chassis of the buses and after that, the concerned wings of the department used to develop the chassis into buses. But it was a hectic as well as the long process as the tenders were invited for each work separately namely labour and raw material including metals and pipes, etc. The purchase of raw material had to be completed by the High Power Purchase Committee paving a path for a certain set of formalities to be performed. In this series, putting aside the former tradition, the state government has invited quotations for purchase of buses from four companies including Eicher, Tata, Leyland, and Volvo, and a company having the lowest base price will be taken into consideration undoubtedly and given preference.

The state government also has decided to add 500 new buses under the Kilometre Scheme which was introduced in Haryana in 2019 and pertaining to the same, the officials as well as the authorities have been given directions by the government. Bringing the Kilometre Scheme into force led to a dispute between the roadways transport employees association and the government then as the scheme led to annoying them.

Moolchand Sharma, the Transport Minister said that the government is putting its best for the betterment of the department as well as commoners. So the decision of buying 1000 new buses is part of the same and the process is likely to be completed soon.
