Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that six new government nursing colleges will be opened by the state government during the present tenure. While responding to a question during the Haryana Vidhan Sabha session today, Vij said that during the first term of the State Government, six government nursing colleges had been opened across the state. He wants such nursing colleges should be opened in every district of Haryana. 

The Health Minister said that as compared to the first term of the State Government in 2014, MBBS seats have more than doubled to 1685 seats, BDS seats have increased to 850 seats, and MDS seats to 258 seats. Similarly, there are now 610 seats of BMS, 50 seats of Homeopathic, 1850 seats of BSC Nursing, and 1620 seats of MPHW. Apart from these, seats in other courses including MSc Nursing have been increased as well.

Vij said that efforts are being made to fill the posts in BPS Government Medical College for Women as per the norms of the National Medical Commission. Some posts are lying vacant due to the cases going on in the courts, and once the issues are resolved the vacancies will be filled. He said that 171 posts for the medical stream have been approved in the said college, out of which 93 are filled, and there are 267 sanctioned posts of paramedics, out of which 82 are filled.

The Health Minister said that the State Government has approved the inclusion of families under the Ayushman scheme, those with annual income is less than Rs 1.80 lakh or have arable land less than five acres.
