Haryana continues to witness surge in corona cases and death rate which has led to spurt in trouble for the state government along with the health department. The increasing cases have forced the concerned department to mull over its strategy to tackle the fatal disease. Although, the officials and doctors are putting their best effort to deal with the deadly corona but things seem to be getting worse as compared to February and March.

Regarding the same while talking to The Daily Guardian, newly appointed Director General (DG) Health, Haryana, Dr. Veena Singh said that the department is leaving no stone unturned to deal with the disease. When asked about the vaccination, she replied that nearly 20 lakh people have been vaccinated in the state so far which clearly indicates the better working style of the health department. Besides a target has been set to vaccinate at least 40 lakh people with age of 45 years or above till April 30., 2021. While regarding the strategy to deal with corona she said the health wing continues to put its best to alert people to wear masks, keep social distancing along with sanitizing hands. Besides, the department has come up with a strategy to work in coordination with other departments of the state and the list includes Municipal Corporations, Police, Rural Development, Rotary and Indian Medical Association so that the disease can be controlled in an effective manner.

When asked about the availability of the vaccine, Dr. Veena Singh said that the state owns sufficient stock of the vaccine and currently as many as 3.5 lakh doses are available in the stock. Besides, 1.5 doses of vaccine are being expected to reach this week as the order for the same has been placed. Thus, there is no lack or shortage of the vaccine.

Over the issue of death due to the corona vaccine, she rejected it outright saying that lot of patients were suffering from other diseases which led to their untimely death. The list includes a string of chronic diseases like sugar, kidney dysfunction and liver infection etc. In order to maintain safety, all necessary steps are being taken into consideration following the required protocol before any person gets vaccinated. Safe vaccination is the priority of the department. Regarding the spurt in corona cases and death toll due to Corona disease she said that both are increasing undoubtedly but the situation is under control as the state is in better position as compared to other states. Apart from this, the present strain does not seem fatal like previous ones. Besides, the aspects like home isolation, sampling and molecular testing also have been taken into consideration on priority basis.
