Haryana police continues to make tall claims of better maintaining law and order as well as the security of commoners. But contrary to aforesaid, what came to surface is that the people are not satisfied with working of the department along with police personnel, as the state police failed to meet the expectations of the commoners to some extent. Abiding by the data provided by the State Human Rights Commission, Haryana revealed that nearly as many as 2378 complaints have been received in the last year so far and out of these, 967 are against the police personnel that constitutes 25 percent. Thus, it is a matter of serious concern requiring the state government to have a close eye on the working of the police department. However, it also came to light that a string of complaints proved false after the completion of the inquiry.

It also came to know that out of the total 967 complaints received about the police department and personnel, as many as 624 have been sorted out while 343 are yet to be sorted out and stayed pending. Apart from this, a total of 145 complaints related to women’s issues, and out of these, 104 are settled down to be followed by the 133 complaints about service matters, and 60 complaints belonging to the health department and related issues.

A total of 905 complaints fall under the miscellaneous category and 742 have been sorted out so far.

The whole complaints are put under 21 heads and the list includes the issues relating to children, police, health, jail, service matters, judiciary, labour, religion, minorities, and many more. Regarding this, SK Mittal, said that the Haryana Human Rights Commission is serving the people of the state who have been approaching this commission for their rights. Apart from this, the commission has taken suo moto cognizance on various issues based on information based on news and the commission has also taken very crucial issues with the state government.

Moreover, during the epidemic, the commission received a lot of complaints of medical irregularities and overcharging against the private hospitals. In wake of this and taking cognizance, the commission came up with imposing a penalty on hospitals involved in breaching the norms and exploiting the patients.
