In order to curb drug menace, the Haryana government has constituted Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) to prevent and control drug trafficking in the state along with detection and criminal prosecution of all those indulging in drug peddling, supply, manufacturing, transportation, distribution and storage of drugs and narcotics substances.
Giving this information here on Thursday, a spokesman of the Home Department said that the Bureau would be headed by an ADGP/IGP rank officer under the overall control of Director General of Police, Haryana. The Headquarter of HSNCB will be in Haryana Police Complex, Madhuban, Karnal.
The spokesman said that broad functions of the Special Task Force would be to develop strategies, measures and methods to enforce the law against drug trafficking, prevent drug abuse and coordinate with other governmental agencies to achieve these objectives.
Besides this, the Bureau will work in coordination with the District Police, GRP and other police units such as STF and SCB, collect technical/human intelligence and maintain surveillance in accordance with the existing provision of law over antisocial elements involved in drugs/narcotics trafficking, and plan and execute special operations against drug-traffickers through special teams and also in association with other units of Haryana Police as well as other departments of the Government.
Besides this, it will conduct data analysis and develop actionable intelligence and act on such intelligence to enforce the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act 1985 and all related criminal and civil laws to severe the drug supply lines by taking stringent action against the drug suppliers, dealers and peddlers.
