CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has decided to set free at least 250 prisoners on the occasion of Deepawali festival who serving their sentences in different jails of the state and relaxation in sentence would limit up to maximum of 6 months’ waiver off.
During a press conference held here on Monday in Chandigarh, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that the decision will include those prisoners locked in various jails in Haryana or those who are at present on parole. Besides, the waiver will not be applicable to prisoners involved in heinous crimes namely rape, murder and kidnapping etc. In this series, the releasing of all these prisoners who are involved in general crimes will begin from November 2, 2021.
He announced to provide electricity connection to the residents residing in old colonies developed by the private builders in the state and heannounced that now the plot builders who failed to give connections have been identified.
Under a new policy announced by him, the required electrical infrastructures will be developed by the government and simultaneously, recovery on account deficient electrical infrastructure will be made from the developer through cash deposit or by attaching their encumbrance properties by the Town and Country Planning departmen.
Apart from aforesaid, the government has come up with a plan to tighten the noose around the neck of miscreants and criminals involved in cybercrime. In continuation to this, cyber help desks would be set up in the state at police stations for registering complaints of cybercrimes.
Taking another step for the welfare of the police personnel, the state government has launched a health scheme for them which includes mandatory biennial health check-up for them that will come into force from January, 1, 2022 for employees of the Police Department who have attained the age of 35 years or more. 32464 police employees (62 per cent of the total force) are expected to benefit from this important health measure. The government will bear the entire cost of the medical examination and will be paid directly to the agency.
