In yet another welfare measure to boost the morale of police officers and jawans, Haryana Police on Monday decided police officials up to the rank of inspector could be posted at the place of their choice including in their home districts six months prior attaining the age of superannuation. However, inspectors would not be posted as Station House Officer/ In-charge of the police post.

Earlier, there was a provision of posting them in home ranges before retirement. Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava said, “The new facility has been extended with the objective to enable a person about to retire at a particular place of their choice after years of dedicated service. This decision will go a long way in providing more help and assistance to the police personnel in the time of need.” It is learnt that there are around 65,000 police personnel in the department and among these, nearly 3,000 to 4,000 employees get retired every year. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Virk said, “The Police department is committed for the betterment and welfare of their employees. This step has been taken to encourage the employees.” Giving details of the welfare measure, the DGP said that it had also been decided that female police officials up to the rank of Inspector could also be posted at the place of their choice including in their home district for one year during the course of their pregnancy. Maternity leave would not be counted for the said purpose. This benefit would be extended only for the first two children.
