BJP leader Arvind Sharma, who hails from the Brahmin community, has been accusing the BJP government in Haryana of corruption.

Sharma’s dissatisfaction with the working of the party and fellow BJP leader Manish Grover has led to political speculations. Sharma is putting his best to establish him as the most dominating leader from the Brahmin community.

Several other Brahmin leaders belonging to other political parties are also trying to do the same. Around three years after emerging victorious in the Rohtak battle, Sharma is attempting to make a place for him as an aspirant for the post of chief minister with the help of caste card.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti at Pahrawar village in Rohtak, Sharma referred to the demand for a Brahmin CM in the state. However, he denied that he has been harbouring the ambition to become the Haryana CM and said that he just wanted to be a servant of the public.

Under the leadership of another Brahmin leader Naveen Jaihind, several other leaders from the community belonging to the Congress and JJP had participated in a programme to prove themselves as the representatives of the caste. JJP leader Ram Kumar Gautam and Congress leader Kuldeep Vats also attended the programme.

Jaihind is positioning himself as the stalwart Brahmin leader in the state. He is continuously paving new paths in Brahmin politics and can be witnessed wielding “Farsa” (axes), a symbol of God Parshuram, in his hands during public gatherings and agitations. During an event, he also projected the community’s aspirations for the state’s top elected post.

Since Haryana came into existence in 1966, leaders from the Jat community headed the government for the maximum times.

The Jats constitute the maximum votes in the state, followed by other castes like Brahmin and Punjabi.
