Amid the Covid crisis, the BJP-JJP led government allocated a budget allocation of Rs 1, 55,645 on Friday in Assembly session with an increase of 13% over revised estimates 2020-2021 of Rs 1,37,738 crore.

While representing the budget, Chief Minister Manohar Lal, who holds the portfolio of Finance Minister, said that it focuses on health, poor families and the backward class. Besides, the needs of the farming community have been taken into consideration as the budget focuses on a string of aspects related to agriculture including setting up of soil lab, micro-irrigation, SYL issue and crop diversification etc. Equal attention has been given to health, education and social security arenas.  

It is pertinent to mention that a sizable chunk in an increase in debts has been witnessed. The state’s debt liability was Rs 199823 crore in 2020-21 while before this it remained Rs 173873 in 2019-20. But it has gone to over Rs 2.25 lakh crore with an increase of 3.8% this year. 

While regarding the same and taking on the ruling faction, the opposition said that it is a bundle of false promises.
