The Gyanvapi issue has once again reached Supreme Court. While the Hindu side filed a caveat, Muslim side mentioned it before the Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud.
According to Pauranik legends, the Lord Shankar loved to play ‘Chausar’ with Goddess Parvati. It seems that the Chausar is being played on between litigants and Gyanvapi at stake. Sometimes, the bet seems to be going in favour of Hindu devotees and sometimes in favour of Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee.
After much hue and cry, on August 3, the Allahabad High Court gave an order that it is appropriate to conduct an ASI survey of Gyanvapi. The order of the district court in this regard is absolutely correct. The apprehensions of the Masjid Committee are baseless.
After this order, preparations for the ASI survey started in Varanasi. Top officials of the police-administration held a meeting with the officers of the ASI and the survey was given the go-ahead from Friday morning.
But Rakhi Singh, a litigant of the Hindu side, filed a caveat in the Supreme Court with the apprehension that the Muslim side might bring an order in their favour from the Supreme Court. The apprehension of Rakhi Singh proved to be true. On Thursday, during the start of the Constitution Bench, the Muslim party made an oral mention against the Allahabad High Court decision in front of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. The counsel for the Muslim side said that he has mailed the registrar with a copy of the High Court judgment in this regard.
However, on the mentioning of the lawyer of the Muslim side, the Chief Justice Chandrachud said that he will say something on this matter only after seeing the mail. This means Friday morning is going to be very important in the Supreme Court.
