The gram panchayat of Kasan village in Gurugram has passed a resolution to develop a biodiversity park in the Aravalli mountain range on about 100 acres of the panchayat land. Forests, Education and Tourism Minister Kanwar Pal visited the village and the area where the proposed park will be developed.
While appreciating this initiative, Pal said that other villages in the district should also come forward to develop gardens on their land. He further informed that the Haryana government has approved development of gardens on panchayati land and various gardens are being developed in districts of north Haryana like Karnal, Yamunanagar, and Panchkula, etc. “This will not only increase the green cover in the area and improve the environment but the groundwater level will also rise and enhance Panchayat income too,” he added. Kanwar Pal said that Haryana has a 3% reserve forest, which now has been targeted to be increased by 20%. For this, 125 million saplings will be planted in the state this year and 1,100 villages have been selected for this plantation.
