GURUGRAM, FARIDABAD REGISTER 50% OF HARYANA’S COVID CASES

Haryana’s NCR cities adjoining Delhi are witnessing a surge in Covid cases, with a sizable chunk of fresh cases originating in Delhi.

Covid-19 continues to affect the districts located in National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining to other states and union territories— Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh. Gurugram and Faridabad, adjacent to Delhi are on the top of the list constituting more than 50 percent of the total cases reported so far in Haryana. Ambala and Panchkula do exist among the most affected districts which have increased the troubles of the state government and both constitute nearly 8 to 10 percent of the total cases in Haryana.

Anil Vij, the Health Minister who also holds the portfolio of Home Minister, said that keeping in view of the spread of the disease, it is necessary to follow preventive measures. Besides, maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, proper sanitization, proper sanitation, avoiding large gatherings, protecting vulnerable persons, and following all the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health is important, he said.

A sizable chunk of the fresh cases surfacing in Haryana originated in Delhi. Similarly, a lot of patients from Himachal Pradesh are being reported visiting Panchkula district for treatment, which increased the total number of patients in Panchkula. Patients from Derrabassi, Baltana and Zirakpur areas of Punjab continue to come to the health institutions of Panchkula. Likewise, during the second wave, the Haryana government accused Delhi of encouraging the spread of the virus at a large scale in the state.

Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Haryana Government has decided that on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations 2022, freedom fighters will be honoured by the district officers at their residences. In this regard, guidelines have been issued to all the Divisional Commissioners, District Deputy Commissioners, and Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil) in connection with the celebration of Republic Day 2022 from the Office of the Chief Secretary.
