The stench from a body that had been lying for about a week on the balcony of a flat in Gurgaon led to a call to the police on Saturday. When a team arrived at the Serenas Society in Dhunela, they discovered that the man had been killed in his own home, allegedly by an employee from his grocery store after an argument over unpaid wages, according to officers.
The deceased was identified as Rajeev Ojha. His daughter filed a police complaint stating that her father, originally from Bhilwara, operated a grocery shop in the Serenas Society and lived alone in a rented flat.
Police received the tip-off about the body at 8 pm on Saturday. A case under section 103 (1) of BNS was registered.
With the grocery store employee, Arjun Kumar, missing, a team led by sub-inspector Ashok Kumar was assembled to search the accused’s hideouts.
On Sunday, Arjun was arrested in Agra. Police revealed that he is a resident of Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh.
During interrogation, police found that the accused had been employed by the deceased for the past three months. When the accused demanded his salary, an argument ensued. On June 30 at 10 pm, while the owner was sleeping in his flat, the accused allegedly slit his throat with a knife, police said.
