In a jab at Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who had earlier stated that Ghulam Nabi Azad’s DNA had been “modi-fied” following his resignation from the Congress last week, Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Saturday that talking to and meeting with members of the opposition political party does not alter a person’s DNA. On Sunday, Azad will speak at a rally in Jammu. This will be his first public appearance since his contentious resignation from Congress.

A day before his rally, at a book release event in New Delhi, Azad slammed the remarks of the Congress leaders.

The seasoned J&K leader claimed that while several MPs mentioned him during his farewell address to Parliament, only PM Modi’s speech got highlighted. “Talking to people from various political parties does not affect your DNA,” he asserted.

“MPs from 22 parties spoke about me (on my farewell) but only what the PM said was highlighted,” Ghulam Nabi Azad.

A verbal battle broke out between Ghulam Nabi Azad and the Congress leaders in response to his resignation, which was accompanied by a 5-page letter criticising Rahul Gandhi and his entourage. The Congress leaders have questioned his apparent closeness to PM Modi and why he still has access to VIP security and his home after leaving Parliament. This resulted from Prime Minister Modi’s departure speech, in which he sobbed as he recalled his lengthy friendship with Ghulam Nabi Azad. PM Modi brought up the 2007 J&K terror attack, which claimed the lives of many Gujaratis. While Ghulam Nabi Azad was in charge of Jammu and Kashmir, Narendra Modi served as its chief minister.

Ghulam Nabi Azad recently stated, in reference to PM Modi’s moving farewell speech, that PM Modi shed tears as he discussed the 2007 incident, and not because Ghulam Nabi Azad was leaving but rather because certain “illiterate” Congressmen provided a twist.

twist.

“I used to think Modi sahab is a crude man. He does not have a wife or kids, I thought he won’t care. But he showed humanity,” Ghulam Nabi Azad said.
