Asaduddin Owaisi, the national president of AIMIM, launched the party’s campaign for the upcoming local body elections in Gujarat with a meeting in Bharuch. AIMIM and Chhotubhai Vasava’s BTP have formed an alliance in the state.

Addressing the first meeting with BTP in Bharuch on Sunday, Owaisi slammed political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and former MP Ahmed Patel. Owaisi said that Gujarat is the state of Gandhi, and not Modi-Shah. He also referred to the BJP and Congress as mama and bhanja.

“The BJP is talking about development and trust with everyone. It is a betrayal of the people. Gujarat is a part of India. I have come to Gujarat because I am a citizen of India. I can go to any corner of India. Those who believe and think that this is the Gujarat of Modi and Amit Shah are wrong. This Gujarat is Gandhi’s Gujarat and will be Gandhi’s Gujarat. Amit Shah and Modi are not bigger than Gandhi and will never be. This is the Gujarat which has strengthened India with its ability and hard work. I have come to Gujarat to unite the deprived society,” said Owaisi.

On the occasion, Owaisi further said, “Today, we have come up with an option. I appeal to the tribal brothers and Muslim brothers and sisters to choose this option. Our aim is not to win elections, but to give people the right to it. You pray for us. In Delhi, the country’s farmers have shaken Narendra Modi’s pillar. The people we elect and send become deaf.”

Asaduddin Owaisi also remembered Ahmed Patel from the public forum and said that he had prayed for Ahmed Patel. He then lashed out at the Congress and the BJP, calling them mama-bhanja. “The 12 Congress MLAs who joined the BJP had been already in touch with the BJP for a long time,” he said.

“Our party’s only goal is to fill the political vacuum. People did not leave even though orders were issued to encounter Chhotu Vasava,” added Owaisi.

Apart from BJP and Congress, Owaisi’s AIMIM has joined hands with the Aam Aadmi Party and Chhotubhai Vasava’s BTP for the Gujarat local body and municipal elections.

The meeting in Bharuch was attended by more than 1000 people. Attendees started pouring in from 5.30 pm. As soon as Owaisi came, people chanted slogans like “Dekho Dekho Kon Aaya, Apna Sher Aaya”. A large stage was built on the riverfront and was occupied by all 21 candidates of the AIMIM along with national and regional leaders. Mahesh Vasava of the BTP was also present at the meeting.
