On Sunday, on the third day of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India won a massive victory against Australia by 6 wickets.
On the third day of the second Test match, Australia continued their innings at 61/1, with Travis Head 39* and Marnus Labuschagne 16*. Initially, R. Ashwin gave a breakthrough to his team and got explosive Head for 43 runs of 46 balls. Australia score 65/2.
Then, Steve Smith came to the crease and took the Australian innings a little ahead with his partner Labuschagne. Both of them created a 20 runs partnership. Again R. Ashwin gave another breakthrough and sent Smith back to the pavilion for just 9 runs off 19 balls. Australia
scored 85/3.
Again the Indian spin duo started their job and dominated the Australian batting lineup. The pitch also helped a lot on the third day, as the balls were keeping low and shooting off the surface. By the time, of the first session of the third day, Australia got wrapped up at just 113 runs in just 31.1 overs. None of the Aussie batters couldn’t manage to get a double-digit score except Head
and Labuschagne.
India’s star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja again shows his masterclass and finished with his carrier best figures in Test cricket with 7/42 in 12.1 overs. Ashwin managed to get 3 wickets off 59 runs in 16 overs. After a poor performance by Aussie batters, they managed to give a low target of 113 runs to India to win
the second Test match.
In the second innings India, opener Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came to the crease to achieve the target. India lost an early wicket as KL Rahul again presented his poor form and scored
just 1 run off 3 balls.
Playing his 100th Test match Cheteshwar Pujara joined Rohit Sharma on the crease to add runs to the scoreboard. But, Captain Rohit Sharma looked in another mood and tried to wrap up the match early. He smashed 3 fours and 2 huge sixes but unfortunately by miscommunication got run out at just 31 runs off 20 balls with a thrilling strike rate of 155.
Then, Virat Kohli came out on crease with a different mindset and smashed 3 fours. On the other hand, Pujara was playing with a relaxed mind and kept taking singles at regular intervals. Holding the end, Kohli became the fastest batter to score 25,000
international runs.
Aussie impactful bowler, Todd Murphy then gave a breakthrough to his team as he removed dangerous-looking Virat Kohli for
20 runs off 31 balls.
Then, Shreyas Iyer came out to bat and smashed 2 early sixes before he lost his wicket to Nathan Lyon for
12 runs off 10 balls.
