On the occasion, MP Kartikeya Sharma, who was elated by the rousing welcome, thanked the citizens of Ellenabad saying that he is in the Rajya Sabha because of the love and blessings of the people of the state. The people of this city did pray for him and extended their best wishes along with the Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar who also showered him love and affection.

Kartikeya Sharma said that the help and cooperation he got from Chautala family, cannot be expressed in words. Despite all difficulties, the way the people here have shown their enthusiasm, is commendable.

Drawing attention of the problems of the city of Ellenabad, the MP said that the problems with paddy cultivation and the continuous going down of water level are the biggest problems here. Once this part was number one in state in terms of paddy cultivation, but due to the reduced water level, people have been facing severe problems, leading the day to day struggle.

He said in this scenario, people have to look for alternatives. “New avenues have to be found as way of earning.” He added, I am echoing the wise advice of the Chief Minister who has been consistently saying that cultivators must look beyond paddy for other crops.

He said that the long-standing demand of railway tracks between Ellenabad and Sirsa would be one of his main agenda. He, along with the local MP Sunita Duggal, will pursue the matter with the railways ministry.

Kartikeya Sharma said the state government is very serious about the education of the children here. Sirsa is considered to be the nursery of Haryana politics. Education system should be far better than what it is today, he added. “Chief Minister Manohar Lal himself is also committed to improve the education level in the state.”

Raising the issue of the great success of our players in Commonwealth Games, Kartikeya Sharma said India won 61, of which 20 medals belonged to players from Haryana. Notable names is Savita Poonia from Sirsa who was the captain of Indian women hockey team. “The performance of our daughters in hockey was great and highly appreciated by entire country.

Mentioning about the recent success of ‘The Great India Run’ which started from historic Lal Chowk in Kashmir and culminated in New Delhi on the Independence Day, Kartikeya Sharma said the day was historic as the number of Tricolours were hoisted there was a matter of great pride. “It was a great soul-searching moment,” he said.
