Ayodhya will witness the colours of the global tradition of Lord Rama as the Uttar Pradesh government has planned events to commemorate the consecration of Rama Lalla on January 22. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the creation of a framework for cultural, traditional, and spiritual programs centred around Lord Rama’s legacy.
The celebrations will include performances of Ramayana from over a dozen countries, showcasing the cultural diversity associated with the epic.
The festivities related to the consecration will commence on Makar Sankranti, with various Ram Lila performances across cultural centres in Ayodhya from January 15 to January 22.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Ramayana teaches valuable lessons in devotion, duty, relationships, religion, and karma. Renowned storytellers from different countries will narrate the Ramayana, connecting people through the ideals of Lord Rama.
For the Rama Utsav, artists from countries like Nepal, Cambodia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, and more have been invited to present their Ram Lila performances. Additionally, states from India, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Karnataka, Sikkim, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Chandigarh, will also showcase various events based on episodes from Lord Rama’s life.
Various stages, such as Tulsi Bhavan Smarak, Tulsi Manch, Ramkatha Park, and others, will host cultural, spiritual, and folk art-based programs. The Chief Minister emphasised that Ayodhya should be welcoming to devotees and guests from around the world. Signage in 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution and United Nations languages will be placed throughout the city for the convenience of visitors.
To avoid encroachment, the Chief Minister instructed the installation of railings along the new Ghat to Teerthi Bazar route. The city’s cleanliness and maintenance will be prioritised, with proper facilities for devotees and guests. The Chief Minister also proposed the development of a digital tourist map for Ayodhya, providing information on essential facilities and key locations. The idea is to make Ayodhya an attractive and well-managed destination, ensuring a smooth and memorable experience for visitors.
Furthermore, the government will organise various events, such as Aarti on the Sarayu River, Nauka Arts Yatra, and cultural programs in temples, to enhance the spiritual and cultural experience for everyone. The government will also establish “Mata Shabari” Bhojanalaya and develop the Rain Basera as ‘Nishadraj Guhya Atithi Griha’ to provide food and accommodation for devotees.
The Chief Minister stressed that the upcoming Ram Mandir will not only be a place of worship but also a symbol of India’s cultural, spiritual, and social unity. After January 22, Ayodhya is expected to host devotees and Ram devotees from around the world.
