Amid a standoff with the government Governor, RN Ravi walked out of the assembly before the national anthem was played.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister M K Stalin moved a resolution on Monday in which Stalin said that the government which has prepared the customary speech for the first day of the House’s winter session will go on record.

Against Governor Ravi the Congress, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and DMK MLAs started raising slogans and said, “don’t impose BJP, RSS ideology.”

Moreover, Governor RN Ravi was accused of toeing the BJP’s ideological position and said, “This is not Nagaland, this is proud Tamil Nadu.”

Amid the uproar, Governor Ravi continued his address. In Tamil Nadu, a tussle has been witnessed between the DMK regime and the Raj Bhavan over several bills which are pending with the Governor. At Raj Bhavan, around 21 Bills are pending as of December 2022.

Earlier on Wednesday a controversy was sparked by Governor Ravi who said, “Unfortunately in Tamil Nadu, there has been regressive politics that we are Dravidians, and by virtue of the Constitution, we have been brought together. The entire effort has been created in half a century to reinforce this narrative that we are not part of the nation, but an integral part of the nation. And even a different kind of narrative has been created. Everything applicable for the whole of the country, Tamil Nadu will say no.”

“It has become a habit. So many theses have been written–all false and poor fiction. This must be broken. Truth must prevail. In fact, Tamil Nadu is the land that holds the soul of Bharat. It is the identity of Bharat. In fact, Thamizhagam would be the more appropriate word to call it,” the Governor said.

However, Governor Ravi’s remarks were criticized by DMK Treasurer and MP TR Balu who said, “Governor RN Ravi on a daily basis passes some controversial comments to create confusion, separation, and conflict. The governor said ‘People have been cheated during 50 years of Dravidian politics’. It is highly condemnable as he should say this from BJP State headquarters Kamalalayam and not from Raj Bhavan.”
