The Government College Kalka is hosting a seven-day special camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at the Ravidas Temple in Pinjore, under the guidance of Principal Promila Malik. The camp aims to engage students in various activities focused on social service and personal development.
As part of the camp, students are participating in free morning yoga sessions conducted by Mahendra Arya from Patanjali Yogpeeth. Principal Promila Malik addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of social service, mutual brotherhood, love, and teamwork.
A workshop on kitchen waste management was organized by Assistant Professor Dr. Bindu from the Department of Zoology at Government College Karnal. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about proper kitchen waste disposal methods and composting techniques to promote environmental conservation.
Program Officer of NSS, Professor Sonu, motivated the students by highlighting the significance of hard work in life through various examples. Assistant Professor Savita from the Department of Public Administration at Kalka interacted with the students, explaining the qualities of an ideal student as per the verse: “Kakchesta Bakodhyanam Shwananidra Tathayav Ch. Alpahari Grihatyagi Vidyarthi Panchalakshanam.”
Additionally, Amarjeet from Amrit Dhara Potters conducted a “Magic from Clay” workshop, where NSS volunteers experimented with soil. Following this, an extempore competition was held, with enthusiastic participation from students.
Under the leadership of NSS Program Officer Dr. Sarita, Professor Sonu, and Assistant Professor Savita, an awareness rally and street play on sexual harassment were organized at the Government Hospital and Garden of Pinjore. Dr. Sarita encouraged students to actively engage in social service initiatives and inspired them to make a positive impact in their communities.
